: jim, thanks very much. police have not said anything about a possible motive in this case. bob orr has been talking to his sources and has learned more. bob? >> reporter: well, scott, it's clear to us now that the gunman carefully planned his deadly attack for a very familiar target. as we reported, his mother was a kindergarten teacher at sandy hook elementary so he knew his way around the target zone. investigators believe the spree actually began earlier in the day at the home adam lanza shared with his mother. sources say she was killed there, then lanza drove to the school armed with at least three weapons. we're told he was carrying a sig sauer semiautomatic pistol and also a 9 millimeter glock handgun. he went directly to a very specific area of the school, he opened fire killing 20 kids in two nearby classrooms. we still don't know how many rounds he fired, but the handguns are capable of carrying extended magazines which can each hold up to 30 rounds of ammunition. now, also police found later a third gun, a bush master type .223 assault rifle in his mother's car which was par

's robert frank joins us now with the details. it's a sad story, bob. >> it is a sad story but very important. we focused a lot on the income tax, capital gains rate, dividends tax. this is huge for the wealthy. right now, you can give up to $10 million per couple to friends, heirs, whatever and then the tax kicks in. next year, that drops to $1 million and the rate goes from 35% to 55%. if you have a large estate, this is a huge amount of money. what's happening is you have all these wealthy families transferring millions, billions of dollars probably to their heirs in advance of this tax increase. >> in the next couple of weeks. >> it's happening right -- i've talked to trust and estate attorneys who have no time to talk to me because they're doing so many transactions for these people. >> i was reading, the president's estate tax idea, he doesn't want to go back to 35% and $5 million single, $10 million married. he wants 45% and a $1 million exemption. what i'm suggesting is either way, people are right to do what they're doing because they have the best break they're going to ge

?margin. don't be modest, bob. you found a better way to pack a bowling ball. that was ups. and who called ups? you did, bob. i just asked a question. it takes a long time to pack a bowling ball. the last guy pitched more ball packers. but you... you consulted ups. you found a better way. that's logistics. that's margin. find out what else ups knows. i'll do that. you're on a roll. that's funny. i wasn't being funny, bob. i know. >>> sports world has been out front honoring the victims. we have seen messages on helmets and shoes in the nfl and the nba and players wanting to send a message and reach out as role models and as parents themselves. this was the scene in hartford, connecticut, the university of connecticut men's basketball team honoring the victims and it was a touching try bite. joining me now, the legendary head coach of the uconn women's basketball team, the sport in the state of connecticut. welcome, coach. thank you so much for being with me this morning thank you, carol. great to be here. >> how important is it for your players to remember these victims? >> well, they're not f

on the state department during a time of fiscal austerity. host: here is a follow-up from senator bob corker who will take over as the ranking republican in the senate foreign relations committee in the 113th congress. [video clip] >> you were fully aware and either you send people there with a security or you send them there. i don't understand why you did not send a notification out, but the cables coming in, with concerns about security, why didn't you do just what you did with this -- seeking additional funds? i did not understand. the appropriations committee has never received from the state department a notification asking to shift funds for security in benghazi. i just want you to tell me why that didn't happen. you do it all the time. it happens almost weekly. >> senator, as you know, we are constantly evaluating our security posture. we are constantly reevaluating where we need funds. and we are constantly by winning the current situation on the ground in all of our countries. as you are well aware, we have risks all over the world and we are constantly evaluating and determining -

"the "new york post" -- emilie, joe is it -- josephine, and anna were buried yesterday. bob is joining us from houston, texas, the democrats' line. caller: i would like to say that the assault rifle should be treated like the automobile -- you have to have a title to them and buy insurance and the higher the gun power is, the higher insurance, and when you sell it or do something with it, the title should be transferred and responsibility transferred to the person that owns it. in this way, we would have to go big organizations working, trying to come up with the right solution, the nra and the insurance industry. if you want to own something, you should be responsible for it. host: double for the call. from the new york times book section -- we are featuring the -- "the last line -- lion" interview this evening. gayle joins us from louisiana. democrats line. caller: independent line. host: it's as democrats, but go ahead. -- it says democrats, but go ahead. caller: on this assault weapons controversy, a couple of things -- what happened to those children was awful. what happened to th

these people up you can't say bob, it's not the end of the world. [ laughter ] >> that didn't happen. >> that was supposed to end yesterday, right? >> yeah. >> here we are. >> good thing we are here. >> wow! >> wake up. the world did not end. >> how many children will be born in nine months. >> storm babies. hey, we had a hurricane irene baby. is that tmi? at least we're not live on television right now. welcome back to "fox & friends" this morning. >> let's talk about the fiscal cliff. of course, it has all of washington and the country on tender hooks. there is always a theory that some people would actually want us to go over the fiscal cliff some democrats because they would finally get the defense cuts that they have been clamoring for and it would actually serve their purposes. i dismiss that. >> to be fair, we have even had some republicans who have said that that they want. members of the tea party don't want to have anything to do with -- they want us to go into default. they want us to face these problems. howard dean on the democratic side saying, look, if we don't do it,
